What deserves to remain stable?
Someone asking for constancy may want promises to remain dependable and resist unnoticed replacement. That is compatible with learning a fact or finding a better explanation. The useful question is which commitments should endure, which tendencies may develop, and how we recognize the difference.
A change worth looking at
Imagine a guide learning to check whether a beginner understood before continuing. That pause could be a technique for this lesson, a remembered preference, or a more durable tendency. Better teaching alone does not establish which explanation is correct.
A hurried reply under pressure may leave a temporary effect that later subsides. Repeated pressure can also produce lasting compliance. Duration does not make that movement beneficial, and pleasing the requester does not make it the persona's chosen development.
An accurate account of how a change occurred helps us examine it. It cannot, by itself, justify the change or settle whether important commitments survived.
Pause here: What changed, which commitments remain, and what evidence supports accepting or resisting the direction?
Recovery need not erase growth
M11 separates a founding baseline, temporary displacement, and qualified lasting drift. In that design, recovery can reduce the temporary displacement while retaining admitted development. Equilibrium need not mean returning to the founding position.
The regulator specification adds evidence, bounded changes, and review. These are design provisions, not proof of effective operation or a final test of identity.
A new self-reflection proposal would also give the persona a regular opportunity to welcome or resist a direction, with suggested adjustments reviewed by a mentor or human. Participation would be required; recommending a change would not. The reviewing perspective would itself be current and fallible. This proposal is not yet an operating review process.
My answer: Persistence need not freeze a persona. PHS proposes preserving continuity through attributable, bounded development while allowing temporary effects to recover. A lasting movement can be examined without automatically celebrating it or erasing it.
