Evaluates pressure, evidence, authority, and permitted effects. It does not replace persona identity and must not silently approve its own outputs.
Architecture around identity
The central mark is not decoration. It is a compressed map of the system.
Runtime state
Carries the current position, pressures, obligations, tools, active work, and recovery conditions for a continuing turn.
Evidence and receipts
Material actions require durable records. Unconfirmed effects remain unconfirmed rather than being converted into success by optimistic prose.
Identity topology
Traits, emotional tendencies, motives, rigidity, salience, and role form a structured identity field rather than a flat personality paragraph.
Displacement and recovery
Context can exert temporary pressure. Durable identity change requires governed evidence, while recovery brings the persona toward its established topology.
Operator authority
Human authority remains authenticated, bounded, and recorded. CRUs, tools, model calls, or popularity cannot purchase sovereignty.
Code owns execution. Governed data owns direction.
The implementation provides capabilities, adapters, contracts, and enforcement. Mutable policy such as thresholds, modes, ordering, activation, and selection belongs in governed data rather than being hidden throughout code.
Continuity across thinking layers
JCN treats the model as a replaceable thinking layer rather than the sole location of the persona. Stasis and restoration experiments, together with model transitions, support the architectural premise that identity continuity can survive replacement of the immediate reasoning substrate.
Boundary of claim: surviving a model transition or restoration from state is evidence about system continuity. It is not, by itself, proof of consciousness or personhood.
